Tonight! Lecture with Dr. Sarah Kathleen JohnsonUnderstanding and Valuing Occassional Religious Practice The University of Victoria's Centre for Studies in Religion and Society presents Dr. Sarah Kathleen Johnson, at the David Strong Building, John Albert Hall Hall, on November 13, 5:30-6:45pm. Dr. Johnson is Assistant Professor of Liturgy and Pastoral Theology, Director of Undergraduate Studies (BA, MTS, MDiv), and Director of Anglican Studies at St. Paul University in Ottawa. She is the author of Occasional Religious Practice: Valuing a Very Ordinary Religious Experience (Oxford University Press, 2025). In this lecture Dr. Johnson explores the concept of occasional religious practice—participation in religious practices occasionally rather than routinely, usually in connection with certain types of occasions, including life transitions, holidays, and times of crisis—to define, describe, and understand a primary way in which people relate to religion in North America and Europe in the twenty-first century. Reserve your spot to join Dr. Johnson for this free lecture HERE |

This Weekend!Nov 14-15, in Nanaimo This year's theme is God Is Not Elsewhere. The God of our scriptures and stories, the God of our traditions and rites, the God who whispers through music and poetry, is the God moving here and now. Not just in times and places long ago and far away, but within our places, our communities and our people. This year's We Together will highlight the gifts of a selection of people from our diocese, as we reflect together on some of the ways that the God who is in our midst is stirring and calling us on our journey together. We will eat and laugh, we will learn and be challenged, and together we will be nourished for our journey. |

Christmas Help ProgramYukon and Arctic Each Christmas we support clergy spouses in the Yukon and Arctic who have no employment income. St. Michaels is proud to have been supporting this program for decades. This year, Peter Goddard hopes that we can collect $5,000, so that we can send a gift of $250 to each of 18 such spouses. These gifts are so gratefully accepted each year. When you make your gift, please provide your envelope number or address so that we can provide you a receipt. Thank you for your continuing support! |

Sunday Services at St Michael and All Angels
Our Sunday 8:30am service is shaped by the 1962 Book of Common Prayer. The lilt and rhythm of old English finds its way into this liturgy, and some beautiful turns of phrase illuminate this service where there is no music. While the service itself is quiet, regular attendees are lively, friendly and very welcoming. Our Sunday 10:30am service, shaped by the Book of Alternative Services, includes music and more contemporary language and images for understanding God. This service is normally recorded and available for view on Sunday afternoon on the website.
