The Venerable Dr. Dawna Wall is our Rector. Dawna joined St. Michael and All Angels' Church in 2013. She loves helping people connect to God, one another, and their gifts in the vibrant and diverse ways of their particular contexts. Dawna is passionate about facilitating worship and programs which help people embrace the mystery and hope of their faith, encourage the development and sharing of everyone’s gifts, and enable St. Michael's to be a joyful and life-giving community.
Ordained in 1991 in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the U.S., Dawna served churches in Kentucky and Ohio before marrying and moving to Canada in 2002. She was ordained in the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa as a Deacon in the 2006 and as a priest in 2007. Dawna holds a Master of Divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, where her doctoral thesis on Unconventional Prayer Practices explored ways to integrate ancient prayers and the wisdom of women mystics.
Within the Diocese of British Columbia, Dawna is an Archdeacon and has served on the Diocesan Council, the Diocesan Finance and Nominating Committees, the Diocesan Vision Team, the Worship Committee, and the Advisory Committee on Postulants for Ordination.
Across the Diocese and the wider community, she leads workshops, conferences, and retreats on spiritual direction, worship, congregational development, and inter-faith dialogue, and is a mentor to new clergy. She is a member of the Community of Francis and Clare and the Council of Associated Parishes for Liturgy and Mission.
Dawna is also an adjunct professor at the Vancouver School of Theology, where she teaches liturgy and worship. She and her husband, Ron, are parents of two daughters.
