This ever-popular service will be held at the Observatory (5071 West Saanich Road) on Sunday evening, August 31. It will take place in the “Plaskett” (1.8-m) dome, upstairs; a small elevator is available for those who may need assistance in climbing the 32 stairs to the upstairs level.

Because the site is officially “closed” that day, entry at the gate will be restricted to a short spell in the late afternoon (yet to be decided but probably around 5:30 pm). Please note that this event is a strictly private one, i.e., it is not open in general to the public as are other church services, and that all attendees are in effect my private guests – but family members are fine, as also are other non-church goers if I know them or know of them (e.g., you ask me if they may come). The service will last about 45 minutes, and there should be an opportunity for a brief tour of the smaller dome (the 1.2-m, or 48-inch, telescope), as far as weather will permit.
