Dawna's Blog for 15th September

During the fall, we are considering what it means for us to be caretakers and partners with God in caring for the world.  Our diocese (and the Anglican Church of Canada, along with many other denominations) are also observing the Season of Creation - looking at our readings with a heart for renewing the face of the earth.  I’m hoping that we might open some new conversations and ideas for how we share in this essential work that is part of our baptismal covenants.  At each celebration of baptism we promise to safeguard the integrity of God’s creation and respect, sustain and renew the life of the earth.  Our education committee recently hosted a wonderful learning event on this topic and have some great resources for helping us all reduce, reuse and recycle. An important part of our living into our covenant to  respect, sustain and renew the life of the earth lies in sharing our resources, skills, gifts and ideas with one another.  The sharing can be gentle, enthusiastic and helpful as we learn together how to share in and encourage one another in our work to renew the earth.  It’s so encouraging and helpful to remember how the earth itself has a propensity for renewing itself and when we align ourselves to those seasons and cycles of cleansing, and healing we will experience renewal, too.
