The Spring Plant Sale is coming up and it promises to be a fun event!

We have received lots of donations for both the indoor and outdoor areas and a steady team led by Wendy London have been busy turning our Hall into a celebration of Spring.  Look for the "Garden Tableau" on the stage, tables full of plant pots, some beautiful items for the table and kitchen, and a "garden decor" area.  Downstairs, Margaret Eagle has been busy with her team preparing tables laden with books of all types, including a special section of historical books that I know my husband will be browsing enthusiastically.  Not to be forgotten, the church youth are planning a “kids’ zone” in the outdoor worship area where, in addition to sale items, they will be decorating sugar cookies and selling girl-guide cookies too.

We will also be providing some refreshments with the popular concession stand organized, as always, by Betty-Ann Martin.  She is planning to have it serving coffee and breakfast treats by 9:30 to get shoppers in the mood as they wait in line for the 10am opening.

Outside, as I write this article (Wednesday evening), there does not appear to be much going on…but that will change before Sunday as we have absolutely heaps of tomatoes, plants, flowers, planters and baskets ready to be delivered.   Getting the outside plants setup is always a last-minute rush as much of it has to be done on Saturday morning to stay safe from the hungry deer.   If you are able and an early riser – we certainly would love some extra help starting at 7am on Saturday!  Please!

New this year are church tours led by John accompanied by David Palmer on the organ during the sale.  Information about the labyrinth will also be provided and Lanny Hubbard has arranged new signage and handouts to encourage visitors to these areas.

As we organize these community events we remember our three goals: Parishioner Engagement, Community Engagement, and Fundraising for Outreach. So far, we feel we are acing parishioner engagement as we have been pleased to receive so many contributions of time and talent to make this event a success.   The tea pot has been kept warm and the treats plentiful as we make time to chat and visit as we get the hall organized.  Please come and join us (regardless of your physical abilities) and see how you can be part of this too.

A reminder that we ask that on Sale Day, volunteers arrive by 9am, and try to park on the side-road or at the back of our parking lot to save space for our guests.   If you can’t come that early, but are able to help with cleanup, we are usually finishing that by 2pm.

With much love from your People’s Warden.
